The Curator of Anthropology at Dickson Mounds manages the artifact collection housed and exhibited at Dickson Mounds, and works with fellow Illinois State Museum curators and others to develop and improve access to collection information. In addtion, the Curator provides information and support for the Illinois State Museum's Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) team), may conduct, publish, and promote collection and/or field research on topics related to the Museum's mission including Native American life in Illinois and the greater Midwest, and related themes. Working closely with the Director of Dickson Mounds, the curator participates in exhibit development and installation, educational programming, and general museum operational duties. Illinois State Museum Society:
The Illinois State Museum Society Advancement Director is responsible for building awareness and support from all ISMS constituent bodies. As a member of the ISM Leadership Team, the Director will plan, coordinate, and administer comprehensive state-wide public relations and fund development plans to ensure the Illinois State Museum Society’s ongoing support of the Illinois State Museum and general Society operations. This position will work closely with the Director of the Illinois State Museum to guide the efforts of staff, volunteers, and the ISMS Board of Directors in all advancement activities. The Illinois State Museum Society (ISMS) Shop Manger is tasked with reestablishing a profitable retail presence at the Illinois State Museum (ISM) Springfield location. This position will plan, analyze, and redirect an expanding merchandising mix that creates and balances visitor/customer demand with appropriate souvenir, gift and, educational/informational merchandise reflective of the Museum and its programming.
